Dr. Ingrid Baksys is from the southwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. From a young age she’s always loved animals and people. She thought that becoming a veterinarian was the perfect way to get the best of both worlds.
Dr. Baksys went to the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign for animal science and was accepted into their veterinary program. She obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. During vet school, Dr. Emil Baukert was her mentor so upon graduation, she was thrilled to join the Riser team as a veterinarian. In June 2015, Dr. Baksys and Dr. Sutkay assumed ownership of the practice and are looking forward to providing the excellent care Riser is known for.
Dr. Baksys loves working with clients. She has a special interest in internal medicine, though her favorite appointments are the puppy/kitten visits. One of the most rewarding parts of her job is working with owners and their pets from puppy/kitten hood into their senior years.
Dr. Baksys shares her home with her ill-mannered cat, Lucyfur. Lucyfur is a 16 year old tortoiseshell with an attitude, ask anyone here, her name fits. Outside of Riser, Dr. Baksys enjoys reading, yoga, and spending time with family and friends. She also volunteers with Horsefeathers therapeutic riding.
